In pursuance of the National Action Plan of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, it is essential that an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a quality sustenance measure has to be established. Hence, GITAM has established the IQAC cell in the year 2009. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC becomes a part of GITAM system and works towards realizing the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of the institutions. The IQAC will makes a significant and meaningful contribution to post-accreditation phase of University wherein the IQAC channelizes the efforts and takes appropriate measures to address the issues raised in the earlier cycle and measures to be taken by the University to reach its ultimate goal of academic excellence.
The Objectives are:
- To develop a quality system for conscious, consistent and programmed action to improve the academic and administrative performance of GITAM.
- To promote measures for driving institutional functioning towards quality enhancement and institutionalization of best practices.
Significant Outcomes
- IQAC was established at GITAM in the year 2009 and continued to strive for the betterment of processes and setup.
- GITAM was accredited by NAAC with ‘A++’ grade in 2023 for the 3rd cycle.
- University Grants Commission has granted 12 (B) status to the University. This is a notable achievement which enables the teachers and students to receive UGC grants under various schemes.
- GITAM has been selected for participating under sub-component (SC) 1.2 of the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme– II (TEQIP- II) for implementation of project proposals submitted by it.
- All departments/institutes have coordinators to regularly update the data in the central database repository of IMS and X-learn for faculty and students.
